Zlatibor's reputation as an official destination for both holidays and recuperation has been widely acknowledged since 1893 and today it has become a large tourist destination in its own right encompassing a tourist centre, a climatic health resort and a sanatorium. Zlatibor has a rich and diverse eco-system consisting of more than 120 types of grass, deciduous trees (beech, oak, birch, linden and ash) and above 600 metres alpine scenery including conifers, firs and spruce.
