Novi SadSituated on the bank of the Danube River, Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia and the capital of Vojvodina province. Called as „Serbian Athens”, Novi Sad’s old town (Stari Grad) is known by its mainly baroque, neoclassical buildings and churches. Novi Sad is also a lively university town with several museums and cultural programs. Novi Sad’s main tourist attraction is the Petrovaradin citadel, which was built in the 17th century. The fortress functions today as a museum and a picnic area.
